Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and making start of
islamic year. 10th Muharram is a holiday in India its also called day of Ashura It is a day
off for many workers in India.
Month of mourning
Muharram is a month of remembrance and modern muslims meditation that is
often considered synonymous with Ashura. Ashura, which literally means the
"Tenth" in Arabic, refers to the tenth day of Muharram. It is
well-known because of historical significance and mourning for the murder of
Hussein ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad(S.A.W.)
What people doing in muharram or on 10th day of muharram?
All muslims doing Large prayer meetings. This is particularly true of areas of India with a predominantly Muslim population. Not all Muslim groups observe this festival in the same manner. Some Muslims regard Muharram as the month of mourning, commemorating the Battle of Karbala. Muharram is primarily an Islamic holiday but nonmuslims may also take part in or observe the Muharram activities in India its also called "Tajiyah". Some muslims fasting on 10th day of muharram or some muslims fasting 1 to 10 day of muharram.
Hadith of Muhammad S.A.W.
O Fatimah! Every eye shall be weeping on the Day of Judgment except the eye
which has shed tears over the tragedy of Husayn for surely, that eye shall be
laughing and shall be given the glad tidings of the bounties and comforts of
Paradise.
A new year in Islam started. Its the 1st of Muharram 1437. As believer we
should never be pessimistic when it's about the future of this world. The
Prophet Muhammad [pbuh] already predicted that Muslims will suffer, will be
weak and kill each other. But he also said that there will come a time after it
where Muslims will find happiness and peace. We maybe will never experience it
here, but it's what Allah has chosen for us. Nevertheless, the fact that life
is limited should motivate us all to enjoy this life to the fullest and not to
mourn too often about everything what we see. We can't be constantly sad,
because Palestinians or Syrians or others get killed. People suffer daily
everywhere but we don't see it. So be happy, enjoy this life and pray for those
who have less. May Allah bless you with a better life in 1437.
Muharram 1437 moon was
not sighted on 13 oct Tuesday its sighted on Wednesday 14 oct so Thursday 15
oct was 1st Muharram and 10th Muharram Youm-e-Ashur will be on Saturday 24th
October 2015 inshaAllah in
