Islamic month name with meaning and importance

Islamic Calendar has 12 months in the year which consist of 354/355 days. It starts from the month of MUHARRAM and ends on ZUL-HIJJAH.The Islamic Calendar is regarded as Hijri Calendar. The Islamic months begins and ends according to appearance of moon. Islamic Calendar is a dating system used by Muslim countries around the world for the Islamic holydays and several religious events. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and the 2nd Khalifa, Umar Ibn Al-Khattab first introduced it in 638. It is mostly used in Muslim countries and also in non Muslim countries for holidays and festivals.

1. MUHARRAM  -: forbidden
this month was always known as a scared month in which all dishonest acts were forbidden, importantly the shedding of blood.  

History
·         Prophet Adam (A.S.) was born and entered the heaven on 10th of Muharram.
·         Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) was cured from his sickness.
·         Prophet Suleman (A.S.) was ordained King.

·         The oceans and heavens were created.
·         A day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH.
·         Qyaamat will take place on the 10th of Muharram.

2. SAFAR-: void
apparently SAFAR Name of this month because in past pre-Islamic Arab houses were empty this time of year while their occupants gathered food. It is also said that they used to leave their homes to escape summer heat.

History
The Battle of Khaibar took place in the Month.

3. RABI-AL-AWWAL-: the first spring      
name of this month is Rabi Al Awwal  because it usually coincides with the spring time.

History
·         Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) Born in this month.
·         Abu Bakr (R.A.) was appointed as khalipha.
·         Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) migrated from makkah to madina sarif in this month.

4. RABI-AL-AKHAR -: the second spring

5. JUMADA-AL-AWWAL -: the first of parched land

6. JUMADA-AL-AKHAR  -: the last of parched land

7. RAJAB -: respect, honor
This is the second sacred month in which fighting is forbidden. Rajab may also be related to a verb meaning "to remove", so called because pre-Islamic Arabs would remove the heads of their spears and refrain from fighting

8. SHABAN-: scattered
Shaban means between two things. so  it was called thus because the month lies between Rajab and Ramaḍān.

History
·         Birth of Hajrat Husain R.A. grandson of prophet muhamma S.A.W. in month of shaban.
·         15th shaban is Sab-E- barat.

9. RAMADAN -:burning heat
In this month, Muslims must fast from till sunset and should give charity to the poor and needy.
with fast feel high temperature so its name is ramadan.

History
·         on 15 ramadan birth of Hajarat Hassan R.A. grandson of prophet muhammad S.A.W.
·         Battle of badr took place on 12th ramadan.

10. SHAWWAL -:raised
when the female camel gets pregnant and raise their tails mostly in this month.

History
·         1st day of month shawwal celebrate as Eid-ul-fitra  on this day holiday.
·         battle of uhud took place in month of shawwal.

11. ZUL-QAADAH -:the one of truce/sitting             
War was banned in this month of Islam

12. ZUL-HIJJAH -:the one of pilgrimage
In this month  Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca it's called Hajj which occurs when war is banned.

Muslims are celebrate Eid-ul-Adha (bakri Eid) on 10th Zul-Hijjah its holiday in islam.
